Coffee Conundrum Solved...At A Discount Camera Store

This past weekend was my dad’s birthday. He’s really into coffee and he uses this standard coffee pot, but I was recently in this Brooklyn electronic shop called 1 Stop Camera, doing some shopping for myself – I needed a new lens for my camera – when I stumbled upon an elite gourmet single- cup home- brewing system.

With this thing, you insert a coffee canister, make sure there’s water, set your cup underneath it and the machine brews it. Now my dad likes his coffee strong, and I discovered that there’s even a setting for that – you just program the size of the cup, and the machine brews it accordingly!

So I had them wrap it up and I brought it home with me. Later, when we gave presents to Dad, he saw mine and I couldn’t help but notice a flush of excitement pass over his face, just from the size of the thing. But when he unwrapped it, he was disappointed. “I already have a coffee maker, he said.” “But Dad,” I replied, “this thing is no ordinary coffee maker.” He often tells me that I could sell a slaughterhouse to a cow, but persisting, I told him to try it. And whaddaya know, the old man brewed himself a cup on the small setting, and hey! Mikey likes it. So now I’ve got his blessing on whatever I buy him, especially when it’s from my favorite discount camera store, because this coffee maker’s a keeper.

Tripods and More at My Fave Discount Camera Store

I just bought a new camera at this discount camera store called 1 Stop Camera and I realized “Hey, I need a tripod too!” What about those shots that need to be set up, like landscapes or family portraits? I can’t do it all myself!

So I went back to this Brooklyn electronic shop and got this sweet Vidpro TT-2000 Remote Control Full Size Tripod with 3-Way Fluid Effect Head. Now I can set my camera and take any kind of shots I want.

And so yesterday, one of my good girl friends called me up, because she knows how much I love photography, and she asked me if I could take some head shots for her (she’s really pretty and wants to be a model, finally, after years of everyone telling her). So I packed on up and went over to her place and started shooting around. I used my tripod for like half the shots, and she’s so kind that she gave me fifty dollars! I wanted to refuse it, but it’s hard living as a struggling photographer.

Anyway, it all happened because of this brand new tripod I bought at my favorite discount camera store – 1 Stop Camera.

Brooklyn Electronic Shop Helps Wine-O’s Too!

So I recently bought a new camera at this Discount Camera Store in Brooklyn, when little did I realize that this Brooklyn Electronic Shop also had wine coolers. No, I’m not talking about those frilly girl drinks that old people drink on their porches in the summertime, I’m talking wine refrigeration.

I love a good bottle of red or white, but I have to have it at the perfect temperature. It’s like eating a frozen dinner if you drink a chardonnay that’s been sitting in the back of your fridge. And when I open up a bottle of red that’s been sitting on my countertop, a lot of the more subtle flavors are hidden by the warmth of the high room temperature. 55 degrees is the ideal temperature for all wines, with reds being a bit more comfortable in the low 60’s and whites in the high 40’s and low 50’s. But since the average refrigerator is 35 degrees, you’re really missing out if you don’t drink a nice bottle at the right temperature.

This Brooklyn Electronic Shop, 1 Stop Camera, has a great selection of wine coolers, and at very reasonable prices. Today, after planning dinner, I look at what to pair it with, go into my cooler, and enjoy the robust flavors of my favorite wine! Problem solved.

Discount Camera Stores are for All Kinds of Photographers

My friend Chris is a big photographer. Like he wants to go pro. And he’s really into old school techniques, i.e. film, slides, etc. He really admires the time that goes into these photography methods and has worked on perfecting his still frame techniques. But he also knows that the wave of the future is digital, and after being convinced by myself and others, he resentfully began looking for a new camera.

So I told him to check out some of the discount camera stores in my neighborhood, which he promptly did, and he came across 1 Stop Camera, the Brooklyn electronic shop. He found a beautiful little Nikon point and shooter which didn’t cost him an arm and a leg. And now he uses those skills that he’s harnessed with his old school camera to get some really great pics of not just us and our friends, but landscapes, action shots, and the random oddball on the subway.

I can understand that the transition from film to digital is tricky, and may be unappealing, but you don’t have to give up film altogether! Chris’ search into discount camera stores led him to find a new method of photography, and while he still cherishes his film camera, his digital is his favorite new toy.

Discount Camera Stores - Film Vs Digital Photography

Even though digital cameras have been out for quite some time now (since 1991, by Kodak), there still seems to be a lot of confusion over film and digital cameras. What really are the differences? Does it make a difference in the quality? Is one "easier" than the other? What about price structures? First and foremost, if you have learned photography on a film camera - congrats to you. This seems like it would be quite a pleasant albeit frustrating experience! With film cameras, while it does seem like a really cool experience. It’s also time-consuming and quite confusing as well especially when it comes to the developmental process!

However, with something like digital photography it's more or less like a game of point and shoot. You don't need to develop anything - every single video and picture you take goes directly onto a memory card which can then be placed right onto your computer. In fact, a lot of computers and laptops these days have a slot right on the drive for an SD (Secure Digital) or XD (extreme Digital) card. So all you have to do is slide the card in and view your photos and edit them right there with almost any picture editing and viewing software you have on your computer.

Also, with consoles like the Wii, you can place the memory card into the console and view/edit your photos. Can't do that with a film camera can you!?! Also, you have to consider quality. While film may or may not take a better photo, it takes a lot more patients and ingenuity to get the photo looking perfect. With something like a digital camera, especially a compact one, even a child can take a brilliant photo! Check out 1 Stop Camera, the quality discount camera store now for all of your Brooklyn electronic shop needs!

What To Consider When Buying A DVD Player From A Brooklyn Electronic Shop?

It doesn't matter if you are shopping for a compact or digital camera at a discount camera store or a television at an electronic shop, there are specific things you should know before buying anything! It's important to stay educated and sharp so you can buy the right product the first time and be happy with your purchase! So what should you be considering when it comes to buying a DVD player? Besides the initial price you should consider four of the facets listed below:

  • Configurations: Do you want one disc or three disc? Does it matter if it has a CD, DVD, CRW reader for ALL your discs? Can it play the new Blu-Ray format?
  • Picture quality: Does the DVD player actually let you have a better picture? Do you want options like zoom and freeze?
  • Audio: Does the DVD player have Dolby, Mono or Tuner options? Can you use surround sound and sub-woofers with it?
  • Feel: How does it feel to you? Is it slow to load? Does pressing the play button several times annoy you? In that case, you will want a speedy processor that can quickly understand what you want it to do.

Ultimately, a DVD player, like many other electronic components is a computer like a laptop or PC. Some of these processors are going to be slow and some are going to be quicker. These are the things you are going to want to consider! I bought a DVD player a few months back and it was THE slowest machine ever. I simply do not have the patience. So if that means I have to spend an extra few dollars to get a "snappy" DVD player, then so be it!
